With Apple hardware, there comes a day where the lstest OS update will not install anymore. That happened to my iPad2 and iPad4. They are both running older versions of iOS instead of the latest version 14. This is now true for my MacAir that I bought in 2012. It’s the Mid 2012 version, which means it cannot run the latest Mac OS 11 or Big Sur. The eight year old notebook is a bit slow but works fine so I don’t know if I want to replace it with another Mac that I won’t use too much. For better or worse, my main desk computer is now a Dell/Alienware PC running Windows 10, mainly because of PC games. I keep music and photos on the Mac and occasionally browse the web but most “work” is being done on the PC.
